Our Mission

After two years of impactful service as CEO of CAP, Paul Lumley will be stepping down from his role, effective July 1st, to take on a new position as Chief Advancement Officer at the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA).

The world around us is shifting fast, and it can be hard to keep up with the federal impacts on our critical work. We’re here to share the latest news and information impacting HIV and STI related funding and administrative changes coming from the Federal administration that affects the U.S.’s domestic HIV response. In the mid-1990’s, when highly active anti-retroviral therapy (HAART) became widely available in the United States, Cascade AIDS Project’s work set out on a new course. HIV, while far from over, was no longer a death sentence for those with treatment, and we were able to shift our focus toward ensuring members of our community had access to this life-saving medication.

It is in times of uncertainty that the power of community shines. Recent federal executive orders and disruptions have introduced new challenges for our organization. We want to assure you that CAP is taking proactive steps to withstand these targeted attacks on the compassionate care we provide, and intend to do everything in our power to continue serving the community. 

Following the results of the election, we know that many in our community are feeling a mix of uncertainty, disappointment, and fear about what the future holds. This outcome may feel particularly disheartening given the work of CAP, Our House, & Prism Health with some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
